Specifications:
Tested by an independent lab to NIJ 0108.01 Level IIIA.  Protects against all commonly encountered handgun rounds up to .44 Magnum. The Alpha Shield will not stop rifle fire. 
Supplemental testing verifies the ability to sustain 30+ hits per shield including hits directly on the handle bolts and hits adjacent to the shield edge and previous hits.  The 1980s-era National Institutes of Justice (NIJ)   standards only require 5 shots of each test round to be resisted, hits from which must be at least 2 inch from each other and from the panel edge.  Would you trust your life or those of your loved ones to this?

15 inch x 25 inch size and full edge-to-edge protection provides optimal balance of coverage, weight, and indoor maneuverability.  Do not settle for an adolescent-sized 12"x23" shield or similar, in particular one made from ballistic fibers (i.e. Kevlar®, Dyneema®) or fiberglass (Armorcore®) which may not stop hits near of the edge of the panel!

Note to those who have seen the Demolition Ranch test video:  despite Matt's impressive hammering with a variety of big heavy blunt bashers, the Alpha Shield will not withstand hits from common high velocity centerfire rifle rounds like 5.56x45 mm and 7.62x51 mm.  To resist rifle threats, please consider the Hardcore Defense Delta Shield or Bravo Shield (available direct from manufacturer).
Ebay required wording to list:  "This model complies with NIJ Standard-0101.06 for Ballistic Resistance of Body Armor"  Hardcore Defense pointed out to them this is the wrong standard for shields (we use a similar NIJ 0108.01) but changing it seemed outside of their ability.  Trust us, our product is NIJ IIIA per the government testing standard appropriate for ballistic shields.
